LITTLE WHITE ROCK RIVER

Located near Trinity, Trinity County, Texas, this location has afforded members of the PROCTOR MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE and the HOUSTON GEM &MINERAL SOCIETY'S PALEONTOLOGY SECTION the opportunity to find many, mostly Eocene fossils.

Thanks to the work of HGMS-Paleo former Trip Leader, Scott Singleton, who both found this location and also is our resident expert on identification of leaf fossils.

You can read Scott Singleton's Biography on the Scott Singleton Biography page on this web site.

Here is a petrified tree stump found by your Curator, Terry Proctor, at the Little White Rock River in 2000. Terry carried this stump for about a mile down Little White Rock River to his vehicle. It weighs about 50#.
