PLACES & TRIPS
|PIKE NATIONAL FOREST|
Pike National Forest was a place where Proctor Museum of Natural Science and HGMS-Paleo Section Members dug in 1999.
The Pike National Forest is roughly North and a little West of the Florissant National Monument in Teller County, Colorado. It was open to the public for digging at the time we were there, provided you dug by hand and did not use power equipment.
We found mostly Amazonite and Smoky Quartz crystals. However, I found my best specimen of Fluorite. Some examples are on this page.
