This is a view across the Brownwood Lake Spillway after climbing out of the Archaeocidaris dig site and starting back toward the Lake Ranger station. The water is not too deep normally, but when the wind is blowing strongly it can present a challenge. One can walk on rocks for a good bit of the way, but you do have to get your feet deep. The Most dangerous place is when you must walk in front of one bush, which is right at the Spillway lip. It is 40 feet or so down, and you can catch your foot on the bush. The water on the back side of the bush is reasonably deep and the rocks in front are slimy and slippery. This can be dangerous, so be forewarned.
